Janaq Chuquibamba is located at 3700 m.a.s.l. above the Sacred Valley of the Inkas the local families are very proud and well organized to show the Achuppalla (Puya clava-herculis), you will learn the technique to make nest and also learn the properties of medicinal plants, if you do the little hike there is a change to visit the pre inka cemetery.

Janaq Chuquibamba - Achupalla´s Route and Pre Inka Cemetery full day
- We start from your Hotel in the morning to the community of Janaq - Chuquibamba It is located in the upper mountains of Lamay (Sacred Valley of the Inkas) at 3700 m.a.s.l. almost two hours from Cusco, on the way we will stop to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Sacred Valley and some glaciers such as Pitusiray and Sahuasiray, the terraces of Pisaq; when we arrive to Janaq community the families we will wait for us with with their traditional clothes and music, the Varayoq (local major) will announce our arrival, also we will get a warm welcome at the Ruta de la Achupalla restaurant where we are going to have some aromatic tea from the area.
- Later we will go walking for one hour listening the traditional music to the Pre- Inka (Poques) cemetery, at that place we will do the offering to the andean gods with the coca leaves called “kintu”, this offering will be in charge of the Paqo (local shaman), then our guide will explain us all the properties of the Achupalla plant. In the afternoon we go back to the restaurant to have organic lunch prepared by the local families, where you will try the famous susacuro (Achupalla´s small maggot) . Also you can get a souvenir made from achupalla. In the afternoon we go back home by car.
