Janaq Chuquibamba is located at 3700 m.a.s.l. above the Sacred Valley of the Inkas the local families are very proud and well organized to show the Achuppalla (Puya clava-herculis), you will learn the technique to make nest and also learn the properties of medicinal plants, if you do the little hike there is a change to visit the pre inka cemetery.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1:
- We start early in the morning to Janaq - Chuquibamba community, two hours driving from Cusco on the way we will do stops to enjoy and take pictures of the Andes, when we arrive to the community the locals we are going to wait for us with warm welcome and traditional music, also the Varayoq (local major) will announce our arrival with pututu (sea shell trumpet), they will introduce themself, then we go to Ruta the la Achupalla Restaurant and have aromatic tea, later we will plant hortalizas on the farmland, around noon we have lunch, after that we get our rooms, to spend the night, couple hours later we will do the main activity “te mazcall” (it´s an ancient medicinal sauna with natural herbs from the area), then we go immediately to our rooms to take a rest and have a dinner in our room
Day 2:
- We wake up early in the morning and one hour later we go to our restaurant to have breakfast, then we are going to hike for two hour through the mountains, with amazing views, we will arrive to a gorgeous look out to enjoy the Sacred Valley, we spend time to relax and pictures, after that we walk back to the community for our lunch, then we have couple hours break to do another walk for one hour up to the mountains where the pre incas (poques) thumbs are. In the afternoon we go back home by car.
