The inka trail to Machupicchu it’s one of the most beautiful hike to the last Inka City, on the way you will have amazing scenery and climb around Machupicchu mountain, this hike is approximately 12 km (7.5 miles).
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1:
- We pick you up from your hotel and we go to Ollantaytambo train station to get on board and the train ride will be 1hou 10 minutes to Chachabamba or km 104 of the Rail Way, at that place we will disembark, to cross a bridge over Urubamba river and go to the checkpoint to show our tickets, permission and original passport.
- When we have been contro we can prepare yourself before our hike, we will visit very soon one of the small archeological site of Chachabamba, our professional guide will explain you about that place, then we ascent following the in trail observing different plants, flowers and orchids, we are going to pass by a gorgeous waterfall and visit Wiñaywayna archeological site, few minutes later we have our box lunch, in the afternoon we keep walking on the inka trail to the Sun gate; from that place we are going to have the first view of Machupicchu.
- The last part of our hike will be descending to Machupicchu´s checkpoint and take our bus down to Aguas Calientes town and spend the night at a hotel of your preference.
Day 2:
- Early in the morning we go to take our bus up to Machupicchu and we walk to the upper part of the terraces to have a fantastic view of Machupicchu, then we do the tour for 2 and half hours with our professional guide, in the afternoon we go back down again to Aguas Calientes to have lunch and take our train back to Ollantaytambo, where our transportaiton is going to the take you all the way to your hotel.
